Stardust

I remember when flowers grew on a moist-tender earth
When bluebirds sang on the branches of a birch
Then suddenly the sky turned a heavy grey
One day in the merry month of May

I saw ripples on a moss-laden stream
Circle and whirl like the end of a dream
I looked at the sky to see but none
The gleaming rays of the sun

Slowly rain came down from above
Like beads of glass on a ring of love
Thunder roared like a lion in despair
Crying in pain creating havoc and fear

Then lightning sparked on the death-laden sky
Frightening all creatures including birds that fly
Then the east winds began to moan
Speaking of fear in a desperate screeching tone

Then suddenly halted the thundering blaze
Opening a door for the sun’s glorious rays
Thunder and lightning returned to their domain
Leaving nothing but a mess of the fallen rain

Birds began to sing in their nests on trees
Welcoming the soothing summer’s breeze
Then I saw a big bow of great colors
Signaling the end of the darkened horrors
