Tainted Fortune

How many times shall we consider our luck?
How soon can we say we have it all?
When will come to know the true meaning of happiness?
Perhaps never, or not at all

Is it so impossible that we have to quiver and crawl?
Underneath sheets of unending concern?
For the least and the small…for the grand?
For the unusual that we could not understand?

What do we need to survive this fate of a tainted fortune?
How far shall we run to yet discover the truth?
Of a happiness that asks for a price unknown?
Where shall we go from here, where shall we hide?

Tall tales of unspeakable horrors that haunt
Freeze our soul with cold and unforgiving thoughts
Left alone to think what has happened
Pacifying the underhanded link through the heart

Sleepless nights, inconsolable emotions
Endless pensiveness, alone, and mystified
At the end of the day that implies
Our lives will never end until justified

Stardust

I remember when flowers grew on a moist-tender earth
When bluebirds sang on the branches of a birch
Then suddenly the sky turned a heavy grey
One day in the merry month of May

I saw ripples on a moss-laden stream
Circle and whirl like the end of a dream
I looked at the sky to see but none
The gleaming rays of the sun

Slowly rain came down from above
Like beads of glass on a ring of love
Thunder roared like a lion in despair
Crying in pain creating havoc and fear

Then lightning sparked on the death-laden sky
Frightening all creatures including birds that fly
Then the east winds began to moan
Speaking of fear in a desperate screeching tone

Then suddenly halted the thundering blaze
Opening a door for the sun’s glorious rays
Thunder and lightning returned to their domain
Leaving nothing but a mess of the fallen rain

Birds began to sing in their nests on trees
Welcoming the soothing summer’s breeze
Then I saw a big bow of great colors
Signaling the end of the darkened horrors

Romeo's Reprise

How surreal can his young love be
For Juliet who endured a tragedy

A love they made in haste indeed
Yet their story speaks of a worthy deed

A love made in haste hath cast a curse
On lovers forced to sing a bitter verse

As we try to be as romantic as the story told
Of Romeo and Juliet who never seem to grow old

We fail to understand our own existence
If we dare to speak of their foiled romances

“Love at First Sight” was their truth
When they met, they were in their fragile youth

In our memories, their love is unique
How can we compare, if we are each other’s critique

In a restless world where we hope to love like them
Love is just a feeling of chaotic and utter mayhem

Where one hopes, while the other awaits
No matter how dense, we all love in haste
